When you register a domain name it can still show as available for upto 24hrs. This is due to the length of time it takes for the WHOIS Database to update and this is the Database you query to check the availability of a domain name. Most of the registries are lowering the amount of time between updates of their WHOIS Database, eventually the updates should take place in real-time.
Once you receive the confirmation e-mail for your registration the name has been registered. It is not possible for anyone else to register the name, despite the fact that it appears to be free.
If after 48hrs your name still is not listed in the WHOIS then you should contact us.
