When you register your domain name through telivo you are given the chance to change the details for who the domain will be registered for before you proceed and make payment. Once a domain name has been registered and entered into the relevant registries the TLD (Top Level Domain) you have purchased e.g. .uk, .com etc. will dictate the procedure for modifying the registered owner information.
.UK Domain Names
Nominet maintain the details of all .uk domain names on a central Database. Nominet are the official registry for .uk Internet names, just like the DVLA is for vehicle registration.
If there is a spelling mistake in the registered owner details then you can use the reply form on the reverse of the registration certificate to make any amendments.
If you no longer require your domain name you may wish to transfer it to another user instead of surrendering it.
In order to cover the costs of providing this service, from 19 May 2003 Nominet will be charging a fee for transferring a domain name. The fee will be £30 + VAT per domain name and will apply to all transfer forms received by Nominet from 19 May 2003 onwards.
Please note that Nominet reserves the right not to transfer a domain name if it considers that the correct authority has not been obtained from the current registrant. In this case any fees paid will be refunded.
This is the first stage of the planned programme, which will see the transfer process move online later this year.
To transfer a domain name you will need to complete a transfer form and send Nominet a confirmatory letter. You can find the transfer form on the reverse of your registration certificate if it was issued before 1 July 2002. If your certificate does not contain a transfer form (or you do not have a certificate) you can request a transfer form by contacting Nominet's Registration Services Group on email at certificates@nominet.org.uk, by fax to (01865) 332295 or by post to Nominet UK, Sandford Gate, Sandy Lane West, Oxford, United Kingdom, OX4 6LB.
generic Top Level Domains (gTLD) .COM, .NET, .ORG, .INFO, .BIZ
If there is a spelling mistake in the registered owner address or the address details have change then you need to post or fax your requested change to telivo (+44 (0)870 011 6205) on company or personal headed paper requesting the details be updated. You must include the domain name(s) you wish to modify, your name, your telivo account username/password, your signature and your contact details. The update will appear in the WHOIS results approx. 24hrs from receipt of your request. This only applies to the postal address, telephone and fax number.
To modify the registered owner name or email address information stored in the main registry Database for these gTLDs will incur a £20.00 +VAT registry administration charge per domain name. You need to send your request in by post on your headed paper. You must include the domain name you wish to modify the owner details, your name, your telivo account username/password, your signature, your contact details and the new owner details.
The change of owner name or email address can take up to one/two weeks to process, as the request has to be sent abroad to the relevant registry. If they are not satisfied with the validity of the request (i.e. the letter headed paper or proof of ownership) the modification will be declined.
