Custom Error Page

All sites experience some degree of link failure or misuse. For example:

• users try to go to a non-existent page - 404 file not found
• unauthorised users try to access an authorised area - 401 not authorized
• users try to view files in specific directories - 403 forbidden
• a CGI script running on your site breaks - 500 internal server error

Typically the user will see an unhelpful error message. By customising the HTML files in the error directory of your hosting you can display a more relevant error message themed in with your website.

Please note

The names of the error HTML files must not change, if they do then no error page will be displayed.

Most Common use
