Last.fm is a fantastic internet radio
and music community website based in the UK. Their music library
contains hundreds of thousands of audio tracks and albums. The
library includes a wide range of genres including
rock, 80s, classical, opera, pop and lots more.

They use a music recommendation system and builds a detailed
profile of each user's musical taste. They do this by recording
details of all the
songs you listen to and the data is then displayed on your
personal profile page.
Last.fm also offer lots of social networking
features
and
they recommend artists similar to your favourites.
You can create custom radio stations and playlists from any of
the
audio
tracks in Last.fm's music library.
Setting up a user account is free and gives you access to all
the main features, ability to post in the
Last.fm forums, send and receive messages and use the
Last.fm music player. You can build
up a musical profile by
listening to your personal
music collection on a music player application on your computer
or an iPod with an Audioscrobbler plugin, or by simply listening
to the Last.fm internet radio service. Your profile page can
include lists of friends,
favourite tags, groups and events. Last.fm also allows you
to form user groups between you and other Last.fm users that
have something in common with you, such as a certain artist,
genre of music etc. Anyone can create
group and add members. You can then have your own discussion
forums, journal space, and another great feature, a group
radio station
based on your members music
profiles. This will be automatically generated once a certain
amount of members have joined your group. Your group members
are also able to
submit
recommendations of artists or tracks to all the other members
of your
group.
Last.fm have another great functionality Events, which
suggests gigs and festivals near to you. You can also add a new
venue or event which will then be listed on the band or
artist's main
page. You also have the facility to
submit reviews and photographs of past events you have attended.
A great website which I highly recommend you check out! Website: www.last.fm |
