Authenticated SMTP - MS Outlook XP

Below is the guide for authenticating yourself against the SMTP mail server.

  1. 1. Open up MS Outlook XP.
  2. 2. On the Tools menu click E-mail Accounts, a pop up window will appear.

  3. 3. Check 'View or change existing e-mail accounts' radio button.

  4. 4. This will list all of your e-mail accounts. Select the e-mail account that you want to set-up with the telivo SMTP and click the Change button.

  5. 5. Change the 'Outgoing mail server (SMTP)' address to 'mail.' followed by your domain name (excluding www, mail.yourdomain.com). Then click 'More Settings'.

  6. 6. Now click on the Outgoing Server tab and check the box for 'My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication' and the 'Log on using' radio button. enter your username as just your domain name and the password supplied in your hosting set-up email. Then check the 'Remember password' box and click OK.

  7. 7. Now click Next and then Finish to close the E-mail Accounts window.
